I am part of a small group of people who are meeting regularly to form a contemplative community in the Twin Cities, MN.
We come together in the name of God, in witness to our common calling to seek and serve God through a contemplative way of life.
We meet twice a month. Our meetings include a period of centering prayer, a scriptural meditation or other pertinent reading (from Thomas Merton, Thich Nhat Hanh, or other contemplative authors) and include time for discussion of what contemplative community means to us and how we strive to live it. We also bring food to share during our meeting.
Occasionally we attend related spiritual events in the Twin Cities area, such as an evening conference in winter 2009 on centering prayer conducted by Fr. Thomas Keating. In the future we hope to socialize more and organize a group retreat.
Eventually, through such regular practices, this community hopes to provide a place for those who wish to declare and confirm themselves as persons seeking God through a contemplative way of life.
